PharmaCann, Inc. owns and operates best-in-class production facilities and retail dispensaries for cannabis-based products. We currently operate in the States of Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Colorado and Michigan as a medical and/or adult use cannabis provider to patients and customers. The Cultivation Controls Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operation of all systems related to the cultivation and curing of cannabis. The skillset required for this role is a hybrid of technical aptitude, knowledge of indoor cultivation practices, and project/personnel management. In addition to day-to-day operation, this individual will be responsible for carrying out and assisting in development of strategies aimed at constant improvement of crop performance and resource use efficiency. This position requires collaboration across multiple departments within the organization.


Pay for this position is based ranges from $56,000-$63,000/year depending on fit 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Daily monitoring of all system data points and physical observations to ensure proper operation of equipment and control system programming.

  • Immediate reporting of any abnormalities in system performance to supervisor and appropriate parties for repair/maintenance.

  • Assist in diagnosing the cause of malfunctions to support repair/maintenance process

  • Implement new strategies in lighting, climate, irrigation, and CO2 as directed to achieve improvements to the cannabis cultivation process.

  • Regularly take field measurements to audit the performance and accuracy of automated control systems. 

  • Fulfill any duties to cover the Controls System Manager in their absence.

  • On-call support due to emergencies in support of the Controls System Manager.

  • Support in the maintenance of equipment controlled by Argus and Ridder Control systems. Clean and maintain all areas, equipment, and material throughout the work area.

  • Test equipment in the field as needed.

  • Assist with process documentation in the form of SOPs and setpoint documentation.

  • Assist with training of cultivation staff in the correct usage of farm management software (Ridder and Argus)

  • Analyze, summarize and present data as needed

  • Develop trials to test new process optimization with the guidance of the Controls Manager

  • Other duties as assigned, assisting other departments in the maintenance of critical systems including, but not limited to Irrigation and Facilities Departments. (This is not a primary responsibility for this position but may be required as needed)


Workspace and Material Maintenance 



  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of immediate work areas and shared spaces.

  • Ensure all equipment and tools are properly maintained, calibrated, transported, and stored.

  • Keep and maintain equipment maintenance and repair logs.


Compliance and Reporting


Working with cannabis requires adherence to strict rules and regulations regarding the handling of all finished and unfinished cannabis material. These rules may vary depending on facility location. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure they are following proper procedures in whichever location they are working in. PharmaCann provides the necessary protocols to ensure employees are acting within all requirements put forth by the regulatory body of the facility location. Employees are expected to follow these requirements without exception.



  • Follow all state and federal compliance regulations, as necessary.

  • Report any violations of compliance regulations to management.


Supervision



  • This position works under the direct supervision of the Cultivation Controls Manager.


Working Conditions



  • Able to use a computer and/or hand tools while sitting or standing for extended periods of time.

  • Able to move about a typical office, manufacturing, and warehouse environment.

  • Able to work in typical agricultural conditions, wearing cover-all uniforms and/or protective layering.

  • Able to kneel, bend, reach, rotate, and stoop on an intermittent to regular basis daily.

  • Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.

  • Occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft, motor vehicle and the like within the region and to other locations as required.


Job Qualifications


Work Experience



  • At least two years working with Farm Management Software and automated controls systems.

  • Mastery of the cannabis life-cycle and attunement to the needs of high performance cropping systems.

  • Background in mechanical systems, irrigation and controlled environment agriculture preferred.

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Excel and Word). 

  • Understanding of computer networking is preferred.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced production environment is preferred.

  • Demonstrates attention to detail.

  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

  • Knowledge and background in commercial cannabis cultivation strongly preferred. 


Education



  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • College education or technical training preferred. (May be substituted for relevant work experience)
